Crassula ovata is the kind of plant that outlasts everything else on the shelf — thick, glossy leaves on increasingly woody stems that thicken quietly over years into something resembling a miniature tree. It tolerates dry air, forgotten waterings, and neglect better than most. Given a sunny winter windowsill it occasionally surprises with small clusters of pale pink flowers.
